How does your service work?
Our service compares the rates from the major electric providers. We have done the work for you by researching each electric provider based on criteria that meet our standards (history, price, and customer service). Electricity Buzz is neither an Affiliate nor an Electric Provider.

Why should I switch?
Switching can save you up to 20% on your electricity. There is no change in your electricity delivery, what changes is the price and to whom you pay. Retail electric providers are competing for your business and will offer low rates, not to mention, better customer service.

What is the switching process?
The switching process is very simple and easy. If you choose to switch, enter your address and compare the electric providers in your area. Select a plan and fill out the residential enrollment online. The information will be confirmed by your chosen provider. Your new provider will handle the switching process. Do not notify your current provider to disconnect service. The switching process may take 4-6 weeks depending on your billing cycle. After the last meter reading from your current provider, you will receive your final bill. There are no disruptions of service or switching fees.

Will I continue to receive reliable service if I switch?
Yes. You will not notice any difference in your electricity service. Your regulated transmission and distribution company delivers the power to your home and they will continue to maintain the poles and wires, regardless of your selected provider.

Is there a penalty for switching?
There is no switching fee unless you request a special meter reading at a time other than your regularly scheduled meter reading. However, there may be penalties if you break an existing contract with your current electric provider.

What do I do if I have an emergency or lose power?
The regulated transmission and distribution company, by law, is obligated to respond to your emergency. For the quickest response, you should contact the number on your bill. If you don’t know who services your area, contact your electric provider.

What if my electric provider goes out of business?
All electric companies must go through a certification process by the Public Utility Commission. Your electric provider must give you 30 days’ advance notice to give you time to select a new provider. However, if you do not choose a new provider, your service will automatically be switched to the Provider of Last Resort for your area. The Provider of Last Resort serves as the “back-up” provider when a retail electric provider leaves the market for any reason. If this happens, you may switch back to the affiliate provider or choose another retail provider. These safeguards are in place to protect consumers in transition.
